(as always, this recording was financed 100% by the band. We've decided to put a minimum price on downloads for the simple reason that we can't afford to keep making records without your support. If you'd like to discuss this more, please email us, email@example.com - Nick loves to talk about this stuff.)
This recording was financed independently by us, the band. In keeping with our ethos, you may download it for whatever price you wish - including for free. Put simply, we just want for people to hear what we're doing, in spite of this pay-what-you-want approach being extremely difficult for little bands like ours to sustain. We only hope that you'll contribute what you can, and will share it with others if you like what we've made.
For what it's worth, this album was financed independently by the band. Our simple hope is for people - for you - to hear it. Please pay whatever you can justify, and let us know what you think. - 'thets.
Recorded at White Horse Audio late 2008/early 2009 by Stephen Bartlett. Mastered by Jack The Bear at Deluxe Audio, Melbourne. This was meant to be a solo record, but thanks to the last-minute help of some incredible friends, the genesis for Epithets was born. This isn't really the best indication of what we're about anymore, but it's a place to start.
So our LP Lacquers are leaving Arizona for production in France next week - this whole process is mind-boggling. Tremendous thanks to Implant Media here in Melbourne for making the whole thing work! If you haven't ordered an LP yet, now would be the time...
We've been making a concerted effort not to over-advertise our new album, but seeing as how we've just finalised the vinyl order, we thought it prudent to remind - downloads available instantly, on their own or free with LP preorders!
Thanks again to all who've shown their support to date.
We're absolutely delighted that "The Repose", from our new album "The Wellspring", has been receiving airplay on triple j Unearthed. If you review it or download it from their site, it increases our chances of further plays - we'd be infinitely appreciative if you'd give us a hand with this. Click below to do the thing. And thanks.
In addition to our album coming out a few weeks ago, Dwayne's kigo project debuted it's first full-length (and fifth release of the year!) yesterday, and Simon's new loud band OLD LOVE have a demo out today as well. You should absolutely take some time to check out those things. Even after four years, I can't believe i'm lucky enough to play in this band with such absurdly talented people. - Nick
Dwayne is selling the bass he used to record our "A New Tradition" EP. It's an excellent MIJ Greco Jazz Bass, and in my (Nick's) opinion, it's twice the bass his old USA Fender was. His Gumtree ad is below, or get in touch with us if you're interested!
Our new album is, at the moment, the #1 best selling "alternative" vinyl release on Bandcamp. Honestly, we've got no words. Considering it only came out yesterday, we couldn't be happier, nor more surprised. Thank you all again.
Our new album, "The Wellspring", will be online for download and LP pre-order on Wednesday morning. Consider yourselves reminded.
(Lisy told me to be more concise with my social media posts. Here is my best attempt. Look at me go.)
As we've mentioned before, our dear friends at Lofly Hangar are assisting in the physical release of our new album. As part of this, they've featured one of the tracks from it on their new compilation - this is the first time any of the new recordings have been made available anywhere, and it appears alongside some fantastic songs/bands too, so you'd be well advised to download it below.
If anyone is interested, I (Nick) am planning on playing some solo shows before the end of the year. Any state or city is possible - particularly keen for Sydney in late October or early November, Brisbane in December, Melbourne any time. Please get in touch if you've got any line-ups I could jump on. Thanks all.
Our new album, "The Wellspring", will be released in two weeks. In the meantime, here's a thing you should definitely listen to. Gareth Edwards began as a member of the massively overlooked Australian band Sandro, and has been releasing his own records for years, most recently under the name Corners. He's a Brisbane resident nowadays - hopefully we can arrange a show together some time. In the meantime, this comes very highly recommended.
Our new album, "The Wellspring", will be released digitally on October 16th - the 4th anniversary of our first show as a band. It will also be released on LP in conjunction with Lofly. It was recorded and mixed by Casey Rice (Tortoise, The Dirty Three, Joan Of Arc, Grand Salvo etc) and mastered by Roger Seibel (Death Cab For Cutie, Sleater Kinneay, Modest Mouse). We are also uploading a track to Triple J Unearthed tonight, which should be live in the next few days. More information soon.
Last night reaffirmed why we bother doing what we do, in spite of vast distances and busy lives otherwise. Thank you so much to everyone who came, to the other bands, and to Lofly and the Waiting Room for having us. Album release details will be posted in the next few days - as for shows, we'll see you in February...
Our only show of the year is this weekend. New songs, our favourite Brisbane bands, the works. I know everyone ignores event invites, so we may post about this a couple more times, just to ensure people are aware.
(Also - next week, we'll have album release details for you.)

Our new EP, “A New Tradition”, was released online today. As always, it is Pay-What-You-Want, as our primary hope is simply that it be heard. Download it at whatever price you can spare, reblog if you wish, and know that we’re exceedingly grateful for the chance to be heard. Your feedback is eagerly appreciated.

That’s exceedingly kind of you! Thanks so much for bothering to write, just to say something so sweet. No, we may not be recognised too broadly, but people like yourself make it worth keeping this thing going! - Nick/’thets.

Been a while, pals. Thought you might like to know that we’re readying a new EP, and should have it out by July. The working title is “A New Tradition.” We’ll put something here when we’ve more news - following us on Facebook is usually the safest way to keep up to date, though!
